Curios is an educational metaverse-like virtual environment, which creates immersive, connected and graphically rich online working spaces for educators and students. The platform fosters socialised forms of online learning, creating virtual spaces and pedagogical approaches that require students to interact and collaborate even though they may be working in different and places. Curios visualises learning progress and outcomes, allowing students to post drafts and give/receive feedback on each other’s work. It has also embedded game elements that encourage students to interact and explore, and promote progressive learning. Curios was developed in 2021 and has since supported more than 2,000 users within and outside HKU.
